⚠️ Interim Privacy Policy — Draft, Pending Full Legal Review
This is a temporary, good-faith version of our Privacy Policy, published while SproutHunt is still in early development with no live vendors or payments yet. It will be reviewed by an attorney and replaced with a final version before real transactions occur on the platform. Effective date: July 3, 2026.
Privacy Policy
🔒 We do not sell your data. Ever.
SproutHunt does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else, for any reason. This isn’t a promotional promise with fine print attached — it’s a hard commitment that applies to every account on this platform, shopper or vendor, for as long as SproutHunt operates.
1. What We Collect
- Vendor account info: business name, owner email/phone, address, photos, and offerings you choose to list. You control whether your email and phone are shown publicly via the “hide email/phone” settings in your dashboard.
- Vendor application data: if you apply to list on SproutHunt, we store what you submit (business details, contact info) along with the IP address the application came from, for fraud-prevention and record-keeping purposes.
- Shopper location data: when you search the map, your browser may share your location (with your permission) or a ZIP code you enter, used only to calculate distance to nearby vendors for that search. We don’t currently retain a history of shopper searches or locations tied to an identity.
- Cookies: a session cookie to keep you logged in (if you have an account), and a “favorites” cookie storing which vendor listings you’ve bookmarked, stored only in your own browser.
- Payment information (once enabled): vendor subscription payments will be processed through Square. SproutHunt does not store your raw card details — Square handles that directly.
2. How We Use It
We use your information only to operate SproutHunt: displaying vendor listings, powering search and map results, managing your account and subscription, and communicating with you about your account (e.g. a password reset or a subscription renewal notice). We do not use your data for advertising profiling, and — again — we do not sell it.
3. Who We Share It With
We share data only with the service providers required to actually run SproutHunt, and only to the extent needed for them to do their job:
- Our hosting/infrastructure provider, to run the servers and database
- Square, once payment processing is enabled, solely to process vendor subscription payments
- Map tile/geolocation providers, to render the search map
- A transactional email provider, to deliver account emails (e.g. password resets)
None of these are data sales — they’re service providers processing data on our behalf to make the platform work, under their own privacy and security obligations.
4. Your Rights
You can review and update most of your information directly from your vendor dashboard. To request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, email privacy@sprouthunt.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable time.
5. Children’s Privacy
SproutHunt is not directed at, or intended for use by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Data Retention & Security
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
7. Changes & Contact
We may update this policy as SproutHunt develops; material changes will be noted on this page with a new effective date. Questions? Reach us at privacy@sprouthunt.com.
